Semalam yang hangat

Semalam memang hangat haha.

Dire Straits and Procol Harum - Newly acquired old favourites

There was a 2 for £10 sale going on at HMV yesterday and I went ga-ga over the choices in front of me. Was thinking of having my 'music for driving' selection updated - enough of unrequited-love-themed Indonesian songs for now. Was thinking of buying someone something as well.
After much contemplation and debate (Slash vs Iron Maiden? Bee Gees vs Metallica? Pet Shop Boys vs Black  Sabbath?), I settled on 4 CDs and a box set of Queen. Got myself:

  •  Procol Harum: Now and Then, The Best of - I've always loved 'A Whiter Shade of Pale' by Annie Lennox, and equally loved the original Procol Harum version. Time to get myself familiar with their other works
  • Guns and Roses: Greatest Hits - I remember wanting this CD when it first came out possibly 8 years ago, but never get around buying it
  • Led Zeppelin: Mothership - another compilation, and the album comes with 2 CDs. I've heard so much about this famous band but I'm not familiar with their songs except for 'Stairway for Heaven'. Bought this album for that someone, but am having second thoughts of keeping it for myself heheh...
  • Private Investigations: The Best of Dire Straits & Mark Knopfler - another greatest hits compilation, another band I've heard so much about but works I'm not familiar with. Also intended for someone else, but surprisingly this is my favourite among the four! (Queen not included). Definitely keeping this one for myself :)
What next? Black Sabbath (for the Iron Man track) and UB40, perhaps?

I'm going slightly mad...

Went to a concert for the first time in the UK Friday night. One Night of Queen at the De Montfort Hall, featuring Gary Mullen and The Works. Gary Mullen is a Freddie Mercury impersonator, and with his band The Works, they play songs by Queen. Had a great time even though I went by myself. Would have been better had the person who had been occupying my mind all week were there.

So there I was, still Queen-feverish, in HMV in town. Found out that they're having a 2 for £10 sale for hundreds of CD titles. I went rock-crazy and bought 5 - 4 CDs on offer and a box set of Queen I've been eyeing since last year. Was very happy walking home when I realised that my proper laptop had been kaput for 2 weeks, and the current one has no CD player on it! Good news, though; my dear tv-cum-DVD player is able to play the CDs :D

Happy thoughts, after all I've gone through for the last three weeks....Alhamdulillah :)

All I need now is Somebody to Love...
